In Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door I've been getting this error for quite a while now: Attachments

After Chapter 3 instead of saving with a save block I started saving via savestates as that seemed to work fine (and is faster), though for some reason since then I was not able to save via a save block anymore and I just forgot about it. I am sure that I did not load a savestate which was made before a save via a save block.

Now I completed the game and to continue to play the save file needs to reload cause you get thrown to the main menu (I made a savestate at the point where it asks me if I want to save, if I hit no I get to the title screen just in case I can fix this).
But if I want to load I have to use a save point from just after Chapter 3...

Why can't I save normally? Why is "Memory Card in slot A is not the original Memory Card" even a problem? It doesn't even make sense, just save the game dude... lol

Is there a way I can fix this?

As far as I know, this can only be fixed by going back to your last save file. (I suppose it also would be possible to hack the game to bypass the check, but there is no prepared solution for this – you would have to do all the hacking work on your own.)

I guess that is more difficult than just:

memorycard_check = 1 > memorycard_check = 0

?

What is this check even supposed to mean?
What if you have the game open on your gamecube and then you want to have a save file on 2 memory cards by just switching them and hitting a save block twice, is this also not going to work and result in the same error?

I believe that is what the check is supposed to prevent.

TL;DR, never use save states.
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 800/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

Or rather, never use savestates without having normal save files to fall back on.
