Memory Card Formatting Issue

I am very new to this emulator. My friend and I are trying to run an .iso build of SW: Rogue Squadron III. .iso runs fine and is even 'okayed' by the emulator. However, when we start the game we see this screen:

I can press enter and it takes me to this screen:

At which point I can move the selection tile with the arrow keys but the enter key no longer returns a response. I also cannot get a response from any other keys.

Any ideas?

1. you will get banned for downloading games.
2. you need to set up your gamecube controls. I think you need to press the A button to select, not Start. What key? I don't know.
3. is this your first game? if not, then you have a memory card problem and should backup because something could be wrong. if not first game you are running, then stop so you don't screw up accidentally.

How do I go about formatting it? I haven't found any options in the program to accomplish this.

Press the cursor up to "Format Memory Card" and then press A.

I've saved most of my games in a .iso format except for the bigger ones that I stripped down to a .wbfs. .Iso doesn't necessarily mean downloaded.

Turns out my controller configuration had reverted overnight and I didn't even notice. My apologies. Thank you for your time and help!

Also, this was not a downloaded .iso. We mounted the file off of a disk. I understand the penalty for downloading games and also do not participate in that culture for moral reasons.
