If you are doing this on win 8 or 8.1 that could be why ( you may need a win8 driver). To fix this issue on win7/xp you will need to remove the drivers and all devices from the system for that adapter. To do that you need usbDview ( its free ). Do this with the adapter unplugged. Be careful only to remove the mayflash stuff. Then reboot and try installing again. If that fails its something about your system preventing the install.
Thanks for responding. This is on windows 7. I've downloaded the program you told me to use and I can't even locate the mayflash drivers on it. I've never had a computer problem I couldn't solve with a few hours, so I've come to the conclusion that the thing is broke somehow. I've tried a million different things and it's just not working.
What adapter would you recommend for Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit? I'm going to return this one.
