" ''As far as I can recall, Vista and Windows 7 don't allow you to force Vsync on or off at the driver level if you are using DirectX. You have to set it in-game, and if a game doesn't have the option, you are limited to whatever default the game uses (some have it on, some not.)"

This was true
back in 2010.

I made of pretty huge obversation about this issue. This issue is directly related to the Dolphin redering screen on the position of my monitor! For intence, if I use fullscreen the picture will tear massively in the virtical lines in middle of my screen when there's motion (about 4 cms in height) - However, if I use a window instead of fullscreen and move the window below the center of my screen, then the tearing is gone! Not that it fixes things, but it must give some kind of hint as to what this issue is. It's probably some kind of screen coruption. It might not even be because of a lack of active VSync. Which again would explain why the tearing is so massive and screen position related. I thought it was strange how the tearing could be so massive even if VSync was off. It's just not how I normally experience the lack of VSync. As I said: there's also a seemingly randomness to where this coruption will appear on the screen. Sometimes it only happens at the very botten of the my screen (in fullscreen) and only about 1-1.5 cm of height, in such a case. This happens as said with DX9+DX11 with/without VSync. OpenGL somehow always works as it should if VSync is on - otherwise the same deal.

BTW: I also had this issue with my 8800GTS (I just switched card) But didn't try to use/force VSync on with that card, though. And remember all other games work as they should. No issues with VSync/only normal tearing without it.

Edit: I'll try to take a picture with my cell phone of the coruption/tearing, later.
I think I might have solved this issue, finally!!! Wooot!!

I have, for daily use, tweaked Windows 7 to use 'ajust for best performance' under Windows Performance Options. When I resettet these settings the issue was gone! And not just gone, but if I turn those settings back again, I can consistantly reproduce the coruption issue! That's really the big thing about this fix. What a random and pain in the butt issue! Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin Cool At least all this trouble might help someone else out there. I think I can die in peace now. Angel Tongue

I also have massive screen tear with dolphin 4.0.2 x64. I am using Nvidia Graphics (2x1gb Geforce GTX550ti's (SLI) and Dolphin crashes if I try OpenGL Everytime. I have tried everything I can think of (Including hours of messing around with Nvidia Inspector) With NO LUCK!!!! If ANYONE with Nvidia that also can't use OpenGL that has a fix for this completely, totally and utterly INFURIATING problem PLEASE HELP ME?!!!!!!!!! (I also have 16gb ram and a 3.3Ghz quad core i5 and 3d vision). Although I won't try it in 3D till I get my bloody Vsync!!!!!
