Hey all,

Recently got my hands on an LG V20, and I've been pretty impressed with how well GC games run on it. However, Mario Party 5 doesn't boot. The other dozen or so games I've tried boot and run perfectly fine, but Mario Party just leads to a black screen with the controls for a couple seconds, and then sends me back to the dolphin game select screen. Is this a known issue? I searched the Android part of the forums, but only found a post I made a couple years ago asking about something else (where, incidentally, MP5 still didn't work). If it is a known issue, is there a fix? If not, I understand that this is one giant development project, and that individual games are not a priority at all.

Thanks!

I haven't heard of this specific issue before. To narrow down what's wrong, try booting the game first with the CPU core set to interpreter and then with the graphics backend set to software renderer. This will be slow, but hopefully not so slow that you won't be able to see if the game boots or not.

Alright, I gave that a shot. This time, I got a little text box that popped up at the bottom that said "Panic Alert: Disc could not be read" Followed by a string of characters and numbers. Could it be that I have a bad ROM? I'm not using my own one right now, due to the fact that I only have a TypeC to TypeC connector for my phone.

If you're worried about the integrity of your copy of MP5, you can always dump the game from the original disc again.

I hadn't really considered that the ROM could be an issue until now, but I'll test that as soon as I get the right cable. My backup on my computer is definitely good.

I am able to play MP5 on my Nvidia Shield TV with no issues. I use OpenGL, CPU clock at 60%, I don't change much else. I have played through a full round with the family with no problems.

I'd like to make sure everyone here is aware that downloading roms is piracy and admitting you've done so will get you banned from the forums. Just keep that in mind when talking about the integrity of an ISO. I understand it's possible to keep multiple variants of an ISO (I have,) hence why I'm not taking any action.

Alright, it looks like the ROM I was trying to use was no good. Got ahold of a USB A to C connector and was able to use my regular ROM and it works just fine now. Thanks for the help!

Through I agree here, there is a big risk of only copying half of your ROM, eg by dropping the USB connection while copying. Afterwards, there is such a file on the target. Through it is smaller, dolphin will load it fine and will just crash on the first usage of the later bits on the disc.

I just played MP5 on the NVIDIA SHIELD ANDROID TV and it's 100% correct, with the default emulator configuration (v5.0-5755) I think that most games work perfectly on SHIELD TEGRA X1, there are always problems on the phone!
