Hey all,
I've downloaded the dolphin emulator so that I could take Mario Kart Wii with me when traveling using my gaming laptop.
Problem being: it runs extremely slow. The sound is laggy and sounds very, very distorted. The graphics run about half as slow as they should (on steady 30fps). The slow game speed might be the cause of the distorted sound.
I'm quite new to emulators, but I'm pretty sure that if MKW could run in dolphin, my laptop would be able to handle it.
The lagging happens during the startup of the game while navigating the menu's and while playing levels. So basically everywhere.
After fiddling with the settings and following guides to configure dolphin optimal, the lagging does not improve.
I've reset all settings to default, with no visible changes to the lagging.
To check if there was a bottleneck in my hardware, I monitored my GPU, CPU and RAM usage while "playing" the game. It appears nothing gets used over 30%. I have confirmed that my dedicated GPU is being used, and not my integrated graphics.
Any assistance in isolating the issue would be greatly appreciated.
