Hi, I am just having problems emulating this game "Mario kart wii", because it runs so slow and there's no any audio, which is very weird because with the same hardware, some years ago I was able to run it at fast speed and with very good sound. Now I am using the latest emulator version and the same hardware, but it simply won't run properly. What should I do ? I am sad because, hey! what happened to dolphin!?? I was able to run this game before, now I can't do it anymore! Thanks. My windows 7 installation was recently installed, and my video card drivers are updated and properly installed.

My pc:
Athlon X4 2.8 Ghz
4GB DDR3 1600
Radeon 5770 1Gb DDR5
Windows 7 ultimate 64

First, please fill out your profile and include your Dolphin revision.

Please post screenshots of your settings. In particular, are you using HLE or LLE audio? What backend?

It's not likely that much can be done about the performance because your CPU is somewhat weak. Please post screens and we'll see if there's any magic that can be done there.

The newer versions have become more accurate to fix various bugs at the expense of raw performance. This means that it takes better hardware to run these newer versions (with bugfixes) at full speed. Of course, you can run an old version without these fixes at higher performance on older hardware.

You might be able to use a newer version with some settings changes. Can you post your settings?

Sure, these are my settings for the graphics. I think I have selected the poorest and fastest configuration, but still the game is running below 50%, and with a lot of errors that you will notice once you have view my screen shots. I have tried many other configurations, with no success. I remember when I used to use the older versions, I barely needed to touch the settings and everything was running so good. For that reason I think I won't be able to use the new version on my current computer. Don't you think ?

Uncheck "Ignore Format Changes" and leave EFB enabled and set to "Texture". Pretty much every game uses the EFB in some way – disabling it breaks shit all over the place. This game specifically also has issues with "Ignore Format Changes".

Also, try messing with the GPU drivers so that it doesn't try to underclock itself or do any power-saving; Dolphin's graphical workload is unconventional and requires so much GPU stalling that the GPU thinks it can downclock itself every few microseconds, which incurs a small time penalty whenever it needs to be woken up to do work again. In Nvidia's drivers you can set "Power Saving Mode" to "Prefer maximum performance", but I haven't a fucking clue what the equivalent option is in Catalyst, if there even is one.

Thanks pauldacheez. Now I am using Dolphin 3.0 and everything is going better than expected. Anyway I barely use Dolphin only for playing Mario Kart wii.
