Hello First I will go over my setup. I am new here so I hope I am doing this right.

Main System
i5 4570 @ 3.2GHz
8GB RAM
Windows 10 64bit
Dolphin 5.0-12716

Two TVs

I have two gamecube to USB adapters https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-GameCube-Controller-Adapter-Switch/dp/B00RSXRLUE/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-nc-drs1_0?cv_ct_cx=gamecube+adapter&dchild=1&keywords=gamecube+adapter&pd_rd_i=B00RSXRLUE&pd_rd_r=a2a1541c-8b2c-4ccc-a345-b5ac9fd2abd9&pd_rd_w=hYQcf&pd_rd_wg=Kf6mN&pf_rd_p=84ce0865-d9ca-42e3-87ed-168be8f93162&pf_rd_r=JQW46RG1A20YY2HFW649&psc=1&qid=1606511164&sr=1-1-88388c6d-14b8-4f70-90f6-05ac39e80cc0

I have successfully gotten on the same system to run LAN mode between two instances of Dolphin using some tap adapters. It works flawlessly. We can play 8 people at the same time. and that is really awesome.

THE PROBLEM
COVID 19 has happened. and family aren't all here to play. I ORIGINALLY was going to try to run dolphin at both sites use a vpn and use LAN mode on dolphin to play 8 people. 4 people at each site. THIS CANNOT WORK (unless I am wrong) This is because while the gamecube DOES use ethernet to run lan mode it doesn't use IP and there isn't a VPN that I have found that can bridge dumb ethernet connections. Only true IP connection. Like I said this won't work.

My Theoretical Solution
Just like before run both dolphin instances at my location and leave LAM mode as setup before. Follow the Netplay setup guide and stream 1 of the two instances to my family.

I HAVE GOTTEN NETPLAY TO WORK. We can play 4 players on Netplay like one should. the problem is LAN mode is gone.

My Theory
I think Netplay must either A) have its own config not configurable by the UI. OR b) cannot use all setting so it ignore them.

My Question(s)
1. is there a config file for Netplay or config panel I cannot find that allows me to connect a gamecube LAN port to the Netplay instance?
2. Any other ideas on why it isn't working and/or how I could fix it.

I realize Game Cube LAN mode may be way low priority for net play. I think there are maybe 10 games that even use lan mode. so I am impressed it worked at all. But this would be awesome to get to work if it is possible.

THANKS

Netplay mode is not compatible with LAN mode. However, you might be able to use LAN mode over the internet with XLink Kai.

I will look into XLink Kai.

Why can't Lan mode work on a emulator in net play? I mean I don't understand how net play works itself. Is there a technical reason it wouldn't work or is it just because it hasn't been implemented yet?

In this case I am surprised it doesn't work because I thought net play worked by essentially streaming video and relaying inputs to the source system from the remote system.

Thanks

It relays inputs between both systems, with no audio or video being relayed. Since the data sent using the GameCube's broadband adapter is not inputs, this doesn't really fit into the system. It probably wouldn't be impossible to add support for it (with each computer running two instances of Dolphin), but it would be a lot of work that I'm not sure if anyone is willing to go through.
