Not gonna lie but these textures look like garbage...

But that does not really matter for me. Everyone is free to state his opinions. So saying it looks like garbage, that's only fair... Provided if there is constructive feedback. Alas, I might never know why this porting project would be doomed to start with. It simply states garbage. Ok, in all seriousness again, update V0.2 is still ongoing and tries the issues pointed out so far while adding more of the menu and racing tracks which are missing. Blame Breath of the Wild and my backlog of games for being so slow on V0.2. The initial release wore me out for a while. 08-06-2017, 09:29 AM
While I'll refrain from making needlessly harsh remarks, this is stylistically all over the place and shows signs of laziness in many places. There's spelling mistakes for one. Many of the character textures used in the GUI aren't even sourced from the same place (the character icons during a race are outright taken from entirely different series of games, like Yoshi's icon from SSBM). Most of the font looked like it put the original textures through a filter in Photoshop instead of being properly redrawn.
Then you have things that are outright wrong like the use of the Blue Shell as the Special Cup logo. And then you have the Flower Cup logo which was taken straight out of the original low-res Fire Flower texture from PM:TTYD. Granted, this is a port of what I assume is the only available texture pack of the original game, but I'd personally ask if it's worth the effort. Maybe if nothing else, having it dumped and put in a pack proper would make it easy to modify at least. 08-06-2017, 11:29 AM

Most of the font looked like it put the original textures through a filter in Photoshop instead of being properly redrawn. I looked at the textures the other day too and noticed those same things. As all the projects are are WIP I refrain from talking bad about the persons hard work especially since I don't know how long Admentus has had to work on them. So "stylistically all over the place" I'll use myself as an example, I've sometimes used completely different textures just to get an idea of how it should look, so don't expect it to stay one way indefinitely. I have left unfinished textures many of times and also underwent great criticism, eventually changing the method I used to make my textures in my whole texture project over 3 times. So my point is that it can be difficult and very depressing to have people telling you that you did a bad job, in the end it's better to give suggestions instead of just lazily telling what you didn't like about it. That doesn't happen overnight, it entails more than you may realize. If you've ever tried to start a project on your own you'd know what I mean, it can be overwhelming sorting through everything. I'm still sorting textures in my projects. On a somewhat different note, about the textures Admentus, I was wondering if you wanted to send me some that you need help on, I'd be more than happy to help out a little. You rather want me to work on something different? Well... Not for now. I still intend to finish this port, yeah. The grammar mistakes are being fixed in V0.2. But honestly said that was the fault of the original HD textures themselves, not mine. I just fix it. Secondly it is a porting project. Got to do it with the material I can find. It is still very much work in progress, so a lot can and will change. V0.1 did practically only add the main menu. Everything else so far was ported by masterotaku so far, I just wanted to complete that. Feedback is fine, but you should just wait a few updates. There is no need to use this pack right now if you don't prefer so. Things like the Flower Cup logo are not defenitive, just temporary. It is probably not going to be part of V0.2... yet. Sadly the core for this project is not on the same level as Super Mario 64 or Zelda 64. Sure, I don't mind if you want to help me out. Any particular part in mind to port or retexture? It fine by me if you have replacements too. I don't intend to set my stamp on my projects, I just port it and any contributions are welcome. In fact they often tend to be chosen above my own methods (since I am not that great really). However, keep in mind that this game tends to dump the exact same texture multiple times (tens of times). I don't know how far that extends yet. V0.1 may have took long and may seem small on content but that is because of all the multiple dumped textures, most of them being part of backgrounds. Every track name? Consists out of five textures and are being dumped at least four different times. So that is a minimum of 320 textures already. Then there are the Battle Courses... Besides almost all textures were just in plain wrong format. Resize, rescale, reframe, cut, you name it. It might have said it before, but I am currently having a break since V0.1 wore me out. Also, from time to time my schedule can be quite occupied, so that's another limitation too. V0.2 intends to do the racing tracks since I am bored doing the menu's. I get back to that in V0.3 and redo most likely some icons. I just got to be creative there. 08-06-2017, 11:54 PM

All right. I just need to dump the textures and sort them for ya. Currently I am working the textures for all 20 stages, not too big of a deal. If you would like to help out with the characters, be warned. Mario himself has over 360 textures (the characters have HD textures to port through, just a massive amount to do so). I dump those textures too. The character selection portraits should be nice too. Yup, I will dump these too. Those are easier too. I let you know when I have the proper textures for ya. Other than that, I mostly require higher quality replacements for fonts and cup icons, which almost all of them are ported in this texture pack.
Anyway...
Moo Moo Farm: Regarding characters models, that is a no-go. It is simply madness to do Mario which has over 400 textures... But there are seven other racers and Lakitu. The character select portraits will probably be a big no to. V0.2 will be my first update to make use of DDS BC7. So no more DXT1/5 from now on. Still thinking about PNG through. I will still provide PNG alternatives, but perhaps on not so many mirrors. Space is limited after all. I am still wondering if I will continue further on V0.3 or pause the project in order to redo Majora's Mask. No date for V0.2 through, and don't expect it. I just upload it when it is finished. EDIT: PNG packs are uploaded too now! 08-08-2017, 04:48 AM

I haven't worked on the textures yet because my PC has been converting my pack into BC7 and it's been running for over 24hrs. Sorry I'll get to them as soon as I can.
