Making the Wiimote Code accessible

Hey there!

I just lended a Wiimote and some Games from a friend to see how my PC would handle emulating them. Most Games Work like a charm! Now all this experimenting got me curious. I thought about using the Wiimote to run emulated Gameboy games, but just can't get the Wiimote to be working :/

My approach until now was to use GlovePie but it just won't accept my Wiimote.
That's where my question comes in: Why does Dolphin find my Wiimote without any changes but no other program will find it?

Is the code for Wiimote connection that complicated or is there another reason that no other Emulator or program is able to use the Wiimote quite as good as the Dolphin Emulator?

the wiimote can not be used as any other controller on the PC. the program using it must understand it's commands and explicitly support it. dolphin naturally does, as should glovepie, but i assume, you have one of the newer TR-wiimotes with motion plus inside (RVL-CNT-01-TR), which dont't work with glovepie. i would recommend using the tool WiiMouse. just like glovepie, it can translate wiimote-inputs to keyboard- mouse- or even joystick-outputs. this way you can use the wiimote for almost anything. and wiimouse should also work with a TR-wiimote, and is imho much more user-friendly than glovepie and still actively developed, while glovepie seems to be dead.

Thank you very much!

Wiimouse works perfectly! Finally I can lie in bed and play Gameboy emulators while having the feel of well designed D-Pad.

I'm using the old remote, but still GlovePie wouldn't work. With wiimouse however, I got it to work just as I wanted in about a minute.

Best regards,
