Hi guys, I've been trying to get Netplay to work fluently with my friend, and no matter who hosts there is always tons of lag, making it unplayable.

My two guesses as to why its happening is because:

We're far apart, my friend is in the USA and i'm in Canada.

He has a low end pc (fx4300 + gt 610) and mine is mid-range to high-end (i7-4790 + gtx1070)

Help would be appreciated Big Grin

What games are you trying to play? What version of Dolphin are you using? What do you have your pad buffer set to?

His CPU should be able to run Melee..........
Try the latest dev build of Dolphin, it has a bunch of fixes, including things for Netplay.
On the latest dev build you may need to increase the pad buffer size.

I'll try that, thanks.

His ping is averaging around 100 but randomly jumps,  what would be a good pad buffer size?

Off the top of my head I don't know. You guys may need to play around with the values. Go up in increments of 2 is my recommendation.

Good pad buffer depends on the game. But if his ping is over 100, I'd at least go over 10. Experiment a little and see if it makes it any better or not--that way we can find out if the issue is the buffer or not.
