Magic Joy Box + Dolphin + Mac

I'm new to the Dolphin emulator and I'd previously purchased a Magic Joy Box 3 for use with my PC. I'd like to be able to use it on my Mac with Dolphin but, when I go to map the buttons, the emulator recognizes it on the device select element but doesn't seem to detect anything from the controller itself. On the mapping dialog, when I click on the individual buttons to start the listeners, they turn blue for a second and then back to gray. I know that raphnet has released a more current standalone GC-to-USB, but I'd like to be able to use what I have. Any help would be appreciated.
