I have always used macbook's and iMacs, but now I am in need of a new laptop
As much as I would like to try a different operating system, I was wondering how well this Macbook can run dolphin.

http://store.apple.com/us/buy-mac/macboo...tep=config

*********With the proccesor upgrade - 2.9GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz

I know I'm new and I've been posting a lot, just want to get some help from people who know what they are doing

Thank you Smile

That laptop uses integrated GPU Intel HD 4000 ...It's not build for gaming purpose
Hell i'm not even sure its cooling design is good enough to prevent the system from overheating with Dolphin
The CPU is based on outdated architecture Ivy Bridge which is 30% slower than Haswell in Dolphin benchmark
For the same price , you could get a custom gaming laptop with latest pieces of hardware which are built for gaming

If the macbook doesn't work, than would this http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np2650-clev...-5843.html work with a processor upgrade and a copper cooling plate?

Intel HD 4600 is ok for most games . However , it will bottleneck your system when you play demanding games such as Mario Galaxy ( demands decent CPU and GPU) , Mario Kart (decent GPU) , Metroid Prime series (decent CPU and GPU) ....
If you need portability and performance , you should choose the fastest integrated GPU Intel HD 5200 Iris Pro which is on par with Nvidia GT 650M

It's still cheaper than MacBook Pro 13" , thin and powerful

Last time I checked, you could comfortably play SMG2 with an Intel HD 4000 at 2x IR on most levels. I think I had a 4200U, so the CPU was most likely the bottleneck during my testing, but I got around 40 FPS. An Intel HD4600 shouldn't have any issues on demanding games so long as the settings aren't too extravagant (stick to just raising the IR).

Yep , you can play 90% Wii/GC games full speed with it

Hmmm... I own a MacBook Pro myself and it really isn't great for Dolphin. It overheats terribly and hence; can't run the lightest of games at full speed with any graphical enhancements whatsoever.

You could get a good windows desktop built for that amount of money. I know it's personal preference but take it into account
Windows x64 | Intel i7 4960X @ 4.6Ghz | Nvidia Geforce GTX 780Ti | Hyper-X Beast DD3 RAM 32GB 2400MHZ

That laptop CPU (i7-4750HQ) is faster than an i5-3570k at stock (and a mild overclock). The Intel HD 4600 can hit between 2-3x IR depending on how demanding a game is. In SMG, only around 1-1.5x IR. The HD 5200 in that laptop should be able to hit around 3-4xIR depending on the game, and at least 2x IR on SMG
