Mac version not detecting keyboard/USB mouse input

Hello all. I've started up SMG2, but the emulator is not picking up any input from my USB Mouse or keyboard. I know this because I cannot hit A and B to start when I set A and B to the mouse buttons, and cannot hit A and B even if if set them to Z and X on the keyboard and hit them. Any help?
