While I have no experience with Apple products since the early 2000s, anything with "Apple Silicon" (Apple-designed ARM) should actually be more than enough for Dolphin just like how basically any modern mid-to-high-end x86 CPU with competent integrated graphics is plenty (and even some low-end modern products are, particularly those of the AMD flavor).
...as long as you're running the native ARM version of Dolphin of course (i.e. not the old "Dolphin 5.0 stable" version). So, in terms of "optimal settings", it should basically just amount how many graphical enhancements do you want to enable before becoming GPU-bottlenecked? (which will always happen eventually, even if it sometimes requires a ridiculously high resolution with insane amounts of anti-aliasing or the like)
Dolphin 5.0 CPU benchmark
CPU: Xeon E3-1246 v3 (4c/8t Haswell/Intel 4th gen) — core & cache @ 3.9GHz via multicore enhancement GPU: Intel integrated HD Graphics P4600 RAM: 4x8GB Corsair Vengence @ DDR3-1600 OS: Linux Mint of some variety + [VM] Win7 SP1 x64 |
