I've tried just about every configuration in the settings, downloaded several different iterations of Dolphin, and I'm just about at the end of my rope. The game just slows down phenomenally whenever there's more than a straight-down view of the ground under your ship. The framerate drops from about 60 to the 15-30 range. The audio is super fragmented and the pause menu (though not the main menu) is fragmented and glitchy.

Feel free to be snarky and blame me for using a Macbook, but I like my computer. Even so, I have a bad feeling that the fact that the emulator is designed primarily for windows is working against me here. I just want to make sure that this isn't the case before giving up on blasting tie fighters in glorious HD.

I'm new here, so I'm not sure about what details you need me to include. Just let me know and I'll gladly provide.

Thanks for any help!

Where is the misconception coming from that Dolphin was designed for Windows? It may have started on Windows, but the common code works the same across all platforms it supports. The only difference is that Mac has shitty drivers for their GPUs.

Rogue squadron games only just recently became playable. They are still some of the most CPU intensive games to play in dolphin. That said, your CPU isn't very strong. From your specs, I'm guessing it's a 3rd gen i7, which probably isn't strong enough to play Rogue squadron. Find out what the exact model of your CPU is please.

Gotcha. Yeah, it's a 3rd gen i7. Well, thanks for the information! Looks like it's time to dust off the old Gamecube.
