Direct X is a long LONG way from fading away.
Replacing Direct X is like replacing Windows. It won't happen. Only hipsters and masochists run a different OS.
Mantle was a flop in my book, the only reason developers are using it is because AMD paid them to. Wasting time and money programming a game to use an API that 1% of your playerbase will even use is a waste.
I know little about OpenGL, so I can't speak for that. It seems to be used more often in non Windows systems. Again a problem, because Microsoft has a huge monopoly on operating systems.
