Hello everyone. I am running the latest version of dolphin on my macbook pro. I am wondering if the mac version is watered down in any way. There seems to be less options then any of the other versions. I also have slow downs and can almost never get up to good speeds with games that are fully compatible. I have a couple of roms I really want to play but they are unenjoyable. Any mac users out there or anyone with an answer?
I have a partition of windows 7 but I do not want to have to switch over to it everytime I want to play a game.

the openGL Plugin is slower than the Directx9/11 Plugin (in most games, some games are running fine with openGl)

just start bootcamp and play with windows 7
oh and roms is the wrong word...
roms are (read only memory) which was used for the cartridges in the gameboy, snes, and so on...
for gc/wii say "backups" or isos

if i read "roms" i always think of 13year old pirates
EDIT by neobrain: that pic was kinda annoying..
EDIT by dannzen: don't fuck with my sig Dodgy

I still think this is not correct. The OpenGL drivers for Windows are crappy, that's the point.
My graphics card with OpenGL under linux performs much better than a better card with OpenGL under windows (using OpenGL with that card on windows causes a slowdown to about 10fps, and I don't have any slowdowns caused by the graphics card).

I'm not a Mac user, but if you have Windows 7, you might as well use it. The very least you could do is test Dolphin on Windows and see if you get any better performance. Also, you never said what specific games you're trying to play. You also never posted your settings for Dolphin.

OpenGL runs fine for me too, under Linux. I have not tested it on Windows, simply because I didn't (and probably won't) install the OS. I think the better question here, though, would be the quality of the OpenGL drivers for OS X. While I've not personally programmed with OpenGL on OS X, I've heard from others that it's a bit more persnickety than either Linux or Windows.

Well I always change my settings based off of what the wiki says works best. And even with playing around I sometimes still can not get full speed out of it. Thank you for the responses I have boot camp so i guess I will give it a shot over there.

Oh and yes, duh. They are called isos. I knew that I normally just play emulated snes and nes so sometimes I forget.

One game for example that will not run at full speed is sonic adventure 2 battle. I have seen it running full speed via online videos and it also says it should run perfectly on the wiki. I get 60 percent speed at the best. I guess ill come back here and update when I get the time to mess around on my windows side.

Although the openGL backend is faster in linux/macosx than it is on windows it is still slower than the d3d9 backend on windows.
