Has anybody else noticed a significant decrease in fps when setting the controllers from Nothing to Standard Controller in the gamecube section of the main config? I've been messing around with SSBM and wanted to play with my niece and nephew, and suddenly it was running about 10-12 fps slower than normal (about 5-6 fps per controller added it seems). This isn't an increase in people on the screen or anything like that. The fps stays dropped even if you set all the other players to CPU. (and raises again when playing the same amount of cpu with only one controller "plugged" in). I wouldn't think that controller emulation would take up as much processor power as that, to effect it so dramatically! Maybe this is something that can be worked around? If so, I didn't see any mention of it in the forum when I searched! This remains true on builds 3886 and 3661 both 64 bit versions.

It's not controller, but additional players, it doesnt mattter if they are real or cpu. Emulation will be slowed down a lot.

No, I'm pretty sure it's the controllers. If I play the same level with only one controller activated, against 4 CPU players, I get around 55 FPS. Then I quit out, active the other 2 controllers, restart, pick the same level with all cpu players = about 10-12 less frames per second. I did TRY to blame my neice and nephew, insisting it was their mere presence that was bogging it down a bit, but in my heart I didn't really believe that. |
