Lost Paper Mario TTYD Save, need correct Dolphin Version

I have an old save of Paper Mario TTYD that had a ton of post-game progress on it as well as data from other games. I have the original sav. and gamecube files of these games but I can't open them because I don't have the specific build of dolphin when I played them.

I wish I had kept track of which version of Dolphin I was using at the time. This Paper Mario save is from February 8, 2015. So I've tried downloading > installing > troubleshooting versions of dolphin around that time period but I have a question:


Question 1: As long as I sift through every version of Dolphin, every single build/update, will I eventually find the one correct version that I used back in 2015?

Question 2: Are there any other ways I can find the solution of reopening this save file on dolphin?

Is this an in-game save or a savestate? If it's the former, it works in any version of Dolphin. If it's the latter, Dolphin will tell you (at least approximately) which version it was made in when you try to load it if you have OSD messages turned on in the settings.

Both my main save file and my savestates are all .sav formats. I need help getting the OSD messages to show me close to watch version the states were from. Is there a way for me to load in save data that was in a .sav format?
