Is there a controller that is laid out exactly like the wii u, but sends its information to the PC through the usb?

Currently I have to mess around with an adapter which sends the wii controller's commands to the adapter, and then the adapter forwards them to the PC and I would prefer a controller that could just communicate directly with the pc.

I like the wii u controller pad so I don't really want to get the xbox 360 controller

I'm not aware of any Wii U controllers, even 3rd party ones, that will work with PC. Aside from the gamepad, they all use bluetooth and require at the very least a BT USB dongle and homemade drivers to work.

I've used the Wii U Pro with Mayflash's adapter and I've found it to work extremely well. I don't notice any lag or dropped input at all. The only complaint is that holding both triggers at once neutralizes both buttons in Xinput mode, since the left trigger registers as analog 0 and the right trigger registers as analog full. It can be avoided in Dinput mode, though.

If you like having the buttons on bottom, Steam's upcoming controller might be worth a look... although it's a totally different beast: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-steam-controller-design-adds-analog-stick-repo/1100-6421328/

I've been using the Wii U Pro Controller via Bluetooth with WJoy on OS X, and it's pretty much flawless – connection never drops, no input lag, battery lasts goddamn forever. I'm pretty sure there's something similar for Windows, though it likely requires the Toshiba Bluetooth stack.

The only things that annoy me are lack of analog L/R buttons and lack of extra face buttons for six-button Sega Genesis/Saturn controller emulation, but those are mere trifles.
