Title

Basically I have noticed a decline in accuracy on the newer HLE plugins and am looking for an old version of it, I don't remember how far back it was but it definitely was a few months ago. All I know is, once the RE:0 hack option was removed from the HLE plugin, RE:0 and RE:1 Remake saw horrible drops in audio accuracy. The music is completely screwed up in RE:1 and just about everything sound related is FUBAR'd in RE:0.

If anyone can post me a link to the HLE plugin back when it had the RE:0 hack, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Sound in Remake and Zero has always had those issues without the hacks, anyways those hacks haven't been working for far more than a few months due to changes in the DSP-HLE plugin, so the sound regressions (if any) are likely not related to the removal of these hacks. You would likely need to use an older revision, probably over a thousand revisions back if you want to use this hack. The old DSP-HLE plugin might not work with the latest revisions due to changes in the audio core.

You will also be sacrificing any audio fixes since then, such as improvements in sound for Zelda/Mario games, compatibility fixes, fixes to graphics rendering etc. Well I suppose you could always keep another updated build on your hdd, and only use the older build for Remake/Zero.

Honestly, I played RE:Remake through with the old DSP plugin and when it had the hack, the sound worked 100% perfectly for me. There was only 1 ignorable problem (which is still existent btw) and thats that the CGI cutscenes audio loses sync over time to the video. Again, not a big deal in a game that is 99% unaffected by it. And I know for a fact it worked, because I could hear all music playing perfectly just like in the real game, without any skipping or missing beats. As far as losing out on fixed issues from using a newer DSP vs an old one, I have no known audio fixes for any of my games since RE:0 hack was removed. Everything is playing back the same. So its a very sad blow to lose my RE music support =(

Hmmm thank you for responding and compiling a custom version, but I'm afraid the hack option isn't showing up the in the options menu. Music did sound better in RE:Remake, but it wasn't quite the way it was back a few hundred SVN's ago.

Again, thank you for trying and helping me out.

Ahhh there's the setting. Well just tested it, no dice on fixing the music problem. Wonder why? Is this the old plugin before RE:0 hack was pulled or is this just you tossing the RE:0 hack back into the current version? It didn't seem to do anything =( But I definitely recall the RE:0 hack working and solving the broken music a long long time ago.

Thanks again darkshadw for trying this out!

Edit: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=2253 here's someone mentioning SVN numbers and the exact issue I'm having. Maybe we can use the mentioned SVN's in that issue thread as an idea where to look for a proper plugin? The issue starter is showing problem between 4900 and 5021, but someone else said it started as far back as 4460...

Like I told you, the hack hasn't worked for a long while due to changes in the HLE plugin, which is why the RE0 Audio Hack was removed to begin with.

You would probably need to go back over a thousand revisions when the hack actually worked. It's not really worth worrying about it imho, especially when the developers are currently working on fixing these sound issues through accurate/proper emulation. Just wait for improvements with the LLE plugin and LLE JIT to be perfected, performance with the LLE plugin and JIT will eventually be on par with the HLE plugin, without the issues that the HLE plugin currently has.

If your PC is fast enough, you might be able to use the LLE plugin for decent sound in Resident Evil Zero and Remake without much performance issues, but you will need to dump a couple files from a Wii or Gamecube to use it.

Here is DSP_HLE plugin that has the re0 audio hack. It's from some way older revision. Uploaded it if you want to give a try.

Well, I think its safe to say this idea is screwed =( tried your plugin, still the RE:0 hack wasn't doing anything to the music. I guess I'll just wait for there to be newer versions that hopefully fix the RE:Remake music soon. Emulation for this game has gone literally up to 100% perfect for graphics, all thats wrong is the missing music. Ah well...

On the topic of the LLE plugin, I've never looked into it. How do I use it? I get an error everytime I try to load a game with it selected for audio plugin. I'm gonna do some research on it and see what I'm missing. Thanks for all the help everyone.
