More specifically source (or binary) of 3.0-261 with motionplus, mentioned in threads like this https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-mo...ward-sword . It was also referenced as Dolphin_x64_2012-01-05_11-38.zip there but apparently Nintendo had the link taken down.

Not directly helpful here, but if a link was taken down, it was most certainly not Nintendo's doing as they have no legal claim to own anything to do with Dolphin itself. It's only stuff like games and the DSP ROM that they own, and these aren't bundled with Dolphin.

Also the original thread those emulated motionplus builds originated had URLs deleted and locked so I wonder if anyone has that version available in any way.

Well, that build was a fork, and was never supported by us. And it had some *really* hacky code so there was never really any intention of bringing it into Dolphin master.

It was also terrible! Mapping 13 axis and 12 buttons that are all used simultaneously and in complex ways in real physical motions is a NIGHTMARE to map onto a gamepad! You basically had to create profiles for every single motion and swap them out with hotkeys and eewww. It was a horrible experience. For games that rely on motion controls, you just really need the real thing!

A good idea is to emulate it with Android devices or DS3/4. Someone did it for Cemu here: https://sshnuke.net/cemuhook/padudpserver.html

Or a Razer Hydra, or HTC Vive controllers, or Oculus Touch...

The problem with this is that every single motion control system has its own interface, so would require specific support in Dolphin. This is obviously bad and not going to happen. The only way this is likely to happen is if a third party writes a GPL-compatible motion control library that supports a wide range of things in a generic way. OpenVR/SteamVR covers the controllers I listed but is almost certainly not GPL compatible, and IIRC doesn't support any that I've not listed here.

When the Kronos Group releases OpenXR there's a possibility that it will be a suitable candidate for a GPL-friendly way to get Dolphin to support VR and Motion+ emulation.

I figured I still have my original wiimote so I will buy the rest peripherals missing (I heard v5 supports them fine). I guess in this case it's generally futile to do it otherwise, not for the non-Nintendo devices themselves (e.g. motionplus has good clones) but because full motion can never be fully emulated with just 2 axes, at least not gracefully.
