Hi guys new to the whole GC emulation.

I'm wondering if someone can point me out as how to best assign the buttons for GC gameplay on a rumblepad.

( assigned as close to the real GC pad layout as possible. )

Keep in mind i have never played with a GC so i'm wondering what the L and R modifiers are / if i will need them in games and where to put the Z trigger assignment if using a rumblepad....

TIA for your help and not shooting me down.

( just realized this may best have been posted in the controller sub forum... sorry. )

L and R are the lower shoulder buttons. Z is right above R.

Thank you.

May i ask what the C-Stick is typically used for?

Does the modifier need mapping? Is it used frequently?

The C-stick the same as the right stick on most controllers. It's typically used for controlling the camera, but there are also some other uses for it, like selecting items to equip in Metroid Prime and Star Fox Adventures.

The modifiers are not actual GameCube buttons, they're a thing that Dolphin has added for convenience. Holding a modifier will halve the value of a stick, which is useful if you're using a keyboard to emulate a stick instead of using a real stick. There's not much point in using them if you have a proper gamepad.

All the buttons on a standard GC controller are:

A, B, X, Y
L, R (both of these work as digital and analog controls at the same time - I suggest mapping both the analog and digital versions of each button to one button on your controller)
Z
START/PAUSE (this is one single button - there is no Select button)
Left stick
D-pad (it's pretty much never used for movement or menu navigation because of how small and uncomfortable it is on GameCube controllers)
C stick (right stick)

Beautiful. Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated.
