I've got a Logitech F310, Linux user as well. I use the Classic Controller setup for Virtual Consoles, so the Minus Button is the equivalent to Select Button. Dolphin reports this as Button 6 for me.

Classic Controller ? I don't see that in the GameCube Controllers list, see attachment

or do I do something with emulated wii remote , confused.

Wii Virtual Consoles support the GC controller, so you can use that in Dolphin if you want. I use an Emulated Wii Remote and set the Extension to Classic Controller, then configure the input, since that's how I used to play on real hardware.

If I recall correctly, the Z button of the GC controller is used as the Select button on NES Virtual Consoles. So make sure have something mapped to the emulated GC controller in Dolphin's settings. Like I said, I use Button 6, the button just to the right of the F310's D-pad as the Minus button on a Classic Controller. It's a good mapping for the GC Z button as well.
