I have an i7, so would checking this option in increase speed? Wait, well what does it do exactly and what benefits/disadvantages does it hold?

I play a game where certain spots in the game I get frame drops. Not just anywhere -- certain spots. And once I move out of them, my frames go back up.

Is it that hard to try it yourself? It does exactly what it says. Well maybe you need to know what thread stand for though.

I'm saying your questions would be better asked and answered in the appropriate section. This section is strictly for Site Feedback, not for questions or inquires related to the emulator. Unless you are having an issue with the website, would like to post a suggestion for the website (not the emulator), you shouldn't be posting here.

Okay, well a mod could move this. In the mean time, does anyone know?

On multi-core processors, the option locks the threads to specific cores, usually the threads are locked to the first two physical cpu cores. This prevents the threads from bouncing between all cores and using cpu. As far as I know it has virtually zero effect on performance, for me I get the same speed with the option checked or unchecked.

I may be wrong, but this option seems intended for multi-core processors with more than two physical cores such as quad core processors, it's useful if you want to multi-task while using Dolphin since Dolphin won't use the other cores and the cores would be free for other applications to use if needed.

What's to explain? It does exactly what it says, it locks the threads to specific cores. In other words instead of the threads alternating between cores they will run completely on 2 specific cores. It's not really a pro/con type of option, just a different way of handling the threads. Any change in performance you will get from changing it will be extremely small, if any. But why can't you just try it?

Edit: Wow. Xtreme must have posted at exactly the same time as me. When I was typing my post I didn't see his but when I hit submit is was there. Xtreme you must have beat me by literally a few seconds.

Two minutes according to the post time and I'm slow at typing. Tongue
