I don't know if you understand what I need help with. I'm not starting a new game on Dolphin. I'm trying to load my save from the Wii into Dolphin. The only save file I have available is the one it automatically saves on the SD card with a .sav extension. I know exactly how it saves in the game too. If it's simply not possible or practical, I'd just like to know.

Someone might be able to help you, I don't know if there is a way. But that's not what you were asking. You asked how to use save states. We told you to not use save states, and to just use regular saves instead...so you weren't making yourself clear. Did you not think the answers 3 of us gave you was different than what you thought you were asking?

Sorry... I guess I didn't make myself clear to start with. What I was originally asking was how to load a save state using the file selector, not how to load a save state in general. I should have mentioned that I started the game on the Wii earlier. Thanks for all the help. But does anyone else know if what I'm asking is possible? (Importing the .sav file from the Wii in Dolphin)

The real Wii cannot make save states, just normal saves. Can you dump your nand?
Wii games don't automatically store save files on the SD card, and I can't recall any Wii games saving anything with a "sav" extension either. Is this something that's unique to Newer Super Mario Bros Wii (since it's not an official Wii game)? Does Newer Super Mario Bros Wii have the ability to make a regular save file that's stored in the Wii system memory?

Yes, only Newer Super Mario Bros Wii and maybe other hacks save this way I'm quite sure. 05-11-2017, 07:23 AM
Then just copy your saves from your real SD card to Dolphin's SD card image, and use them in Dolphin just like you would on console? Is there something that doesn't work with this approach?

I've never done a virtual SD card on Dolphin but I can try that and see if it works.

I copied the "save" folder from my SD card to the Dolphin SD card and the game didn't load my save. Is there a certain folder name it's supposed to be in?

yes, it should be on the exact same spot as your regular save file the Real game made for you on your real SD card (don't know where that is since I do not have this hacked game)
