Load Wii Save Not Working Netplay

Hey guys, me and my buddy have the same version of Dolphin and are using a save file that unlocks everything on Mario Kart. The save file works perfectly when we play by ourselves but once we play on Netplay and I'm hosting and we progress past the "Press the A button" screen at the start it sends my friend into single player and it sends me to the "Select Licence" screen. Any help would be very appreciated. Does this have anything to do with de-syncing and if so how do I "desync". Thanks
