Linux xboxdrv controller not appearing.

So I have been running it on just the xboxdrv (xbox driver, to the best of my knowledge). The udev rule was just recommended elsewhere because apparently that helps with steam recognition. I've also just been toying around with the default (for ubuntu) xpad utility, but it wasn't recognizing the device there either. The device is at /dev/input/js0 .
