I am trying to get this running on my linux box. I have ubuntu with KDE gui. Basically I need to know how to run Dolphin in its own x-session with bluetooth support. Is there a daemon or application I need to install for bluetooth?

Dolphin is not recognizing my wiimote. I can not for the life of me get it to pair. Just bought trendnet tbw-107ub which everyone swears works with ubuntu out of box.

Iev tried in the dolphin-emu to "refresh", however it never finds it. I can not find a guide or topic in search that deal with this method. How to set up WIImote for dolphin in Linux?

The computer prominently runs XBMC in its own x-sessions so I am not using the KDE gui. KDE`s crappy bluetooth apps do not seem to work on my system, none of the detect my adapter or remote. Which is no big deal as I dont load the gui anyways. Only reason I have KDE gui is to remote in with vnc.

My end goal is to launch dolphin from xbmc using application launcher. Ideally with wiimote working in both xbmc and dolphin. However I am just trying to get it to work right now.

Once I get it all up an rolling I will happily post a guide on how to set this up from beginning to end.

It should be fully functional, just like OS X and Windows. If you read the compiling guide on the Google Code page, you'll see this bit in the dependencies :

Quote:libbluetooth-dev (optional, for real wiimotes)

You'll need that installed during compilation. To actually use it in Dolphin, you'll need to make sure that all bluetooth devices are being recognized by your computer, via GUI app or the command line. There should be plenty of other programs aside from KDE's native ones that can handle this. I haven't tried using real Wiimotes yet because 1) haven't dumped any Wii titles yet aside from WiiWare and 2) iController works pretty well with my iPod over WiFi.

Thanks, that is where I have been focusing after I posted. I have that dependency installed and cmake returns - bluez found, enabling bluetooth support

Now I need to ensure my bluetooth adapter is recognized properly. Is there any command line application that you recomend? I have tried about 3 GUI ones from the repo and its not working. Im thinking about installing gnome/unity just to use its bluetooth app as it seems like thats the only one really supported.

The adapter displayed in lsusb

Why do you want to run Dolphin in its own X session?

You could do so by using, IIRC, e.g. "xinit xterm -- :1" where you'd likely want to start a window manager and, after that, Dolphin.

Fwiw, Dolphin does all bluetooth management itself via BlueZ, so you don't need _any_ desktop environment specific bits. In fact, trying to connect your wiimote from those will likely make Dolphin fail to connect.

I run everything in its own xsession. Computer boots into XBMC, when I need gui I log into VNC. Only time I launch GUI on the monitor the computer is plugged into is when I am troubleshooting. Reason I dont use GUI is because I hate it is slow, and it the video tears on everything. XBMC == tearing, Dolphin-EMU == tearing. Launch in own xseesion == perfect and 10% lower CPU useage.

Anyways. My bluetooth adapter will stay solid blue while dolphin is "refreshing", I my bluetooth adapter "sees" my Wiimote when I use

I believe my problem is that it does not want to pair for some reason. I is a brand new wii motion plus remote from best buy. Do i need to do anything with the sync button on the back of the controller?

eh, 01-TR sounds like one of those which don't work in Dolphin at all. Not sure about it, though.

Oh okay, thanks! It does connect on my Macbook Air, but will not load a game with it connected. It complains something about the cache and does not proceed. It will load the game without the remote connected though.

From what I have so far I am screwed, windows-machines have a halfway solution but I have found nothing for linux. Unless you guys know someway to fix it, Im just going to gamestop and by an old used original wii remote and return this one to best buy. Thank you guys for helping me out!
