I am using a GameCube controller adapter from Nintendo
on Ubuntu 14 LTS
I recently installed Dolphin Dolphin 4.0-7840 (netplay build) for super smash bros.
using this guide:

then I mad a udev rule as described here :

when I start dolphin and go to the gc controller settings I can check "direct connect" (which is advised in a guide on smashladder) but it is always unchecked if I reopen the menu.
the controller inputs are not shown in the menu nor are they magically recognized in the game.
