Hi,

i'm currently writing a bash script, that distributes my custom game.ini files aswell as my custom dolphin.ini. As i want to make the project open source using MIT-License, i kindly wanted to ask if its okay to distribute custom game.ini files.

Cheers

If you want to redistribute the game INIs that come with Dolphin: I'm not sure if the game INIs can be considered copyrightable or not... I can't speak for everyone, but at least for the changes I've made to the game INIs, I don't mind them being redistributed under a different license.

If you want to redistribute game INIs you made yourself: If you made them, you decide what to do with them. There are no potential concerns here.

IANAL but considering Dolphin's repository is licensed under GPL v2 or later (excluding Externals and other submodules we pull from other projects -- those have their own licenses), from my understanding the Game INIs are GPL v2+ too, even though we don't slap a SPDX License Identifier on them...

But does this also apply to self written ini's?

No, you can license INIs you write yourself to whatever license you want...
