No, it doesn't because AMD hasn't been focusing on single-core performance

LAPTOP UPDATE:

I tried it out tonight with F Zero GX. It fared a lot better than expected. It was definitely playable with some tweaking, but FPS hovered between 10 - 30 most of the time. The beginning of each race always slowed down to the 10 range.

I'll be giving up on the laptop emulation station with this one. Thanks everyone for your help.

Current revisions are much faster than those.

Nope. You would be better off with the GT 240.

Really? I would think that the Intel HD would perform at least somewhat better than a 5 year old GPU

Well you would be wrong. Welcome to the wonderful world of integrated graphics. Generally the fastest IGPs of any generation are equivalent to the slowest discrete cards or a midrange card from 5 years ago. Also dolphin seems to have a particular vendetta against IGPs probably due to shared memory bandwidth.

From what I can tell the GT 240 is slightly faster than an HD 4600 (haswell GT3). But the G3258 has a GT1 IGP which has only a fraction of the GT3s performance. Also nvidia drivers are way better than Intel in every way.

Oh, I was thinking that the HD iGPU in the G3258 was the same as the HD 4600, and ark.intel.com doesn't say anything useful.
Thanks Smile
