You're sure sketch-up is laggy on that laptop? Apart from a freezing issue, which I get on any computer, it runs fine on my school's 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo based computers, which only have their motherboard's on-board graphics. They're definitely worse than that laptop.
Oh yeah.... it'll stutter for a second, then everything unloads and is replaced by a box (while rotating, for instance), and then slowly loads back in. This is with shadows and textures disabled.
