Laptop CPU upgrade, need help

I would like to upgrade my CPU so that I may play SMS & SSBM better. I found out earlier through CCC that I could tweak the settings down to increase performance. It did work, I get pretty decent/playable fps but I would like a little more. My main priority is to play MW2 better as well. Even on low settings.

Current Specs:
Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium
Laptop model - HP G62 339WM
Ram - DDR3 8GB (If this matters)
CPU- AMD Athlon II Dual-Core P320 @ 2.1 GHz

I would like to upgrade to AMD Phenom II Triple-Core N870 @ 2.3 GHz. I looked up the specs for this CPU and the socket matched exactly but, I have no idea if my BIOS will detect it. Is there any way I can find out? If I cannot upgrade to this, please suggest a better CPU I can upgrade to. If I can upgrade to this CPU, please let me know what the ups and downs of it are compared to my current. Thanks!

It won't give much of a boost. Also, you may not even be able to get out the old CPU without breaking anything, so just try it first before spending money.
