So i just got a laptop the other day which was a big upgrade from my previous desktop that ran intel graphics with an i7. I've been trying a few games that have been working fine on my old computer, but now there is some really noticeable slowdowns on all of the games. I don't know why it is doing this because this computer should totally be able to handle it perfectly. My laptop has an nvidia 1060 and an i7-7700HQ.

Are you plugged in/high power mode? Have you checked your temps?

As stated, check your temps. Go to your Nvidia Control Panel 3D Settings and set it to Maximum Performance. Set your laptops Power management settings to high performance. I have a Nvidia 1060 graphics card in my desktop pc and the thing is HUGE. It's amazing how they can get it small enough to fit in a laptop *sigh*
