I have been trying to play metroid prime and super mario sunshine but my L and R buttons aren't working. I have attached what happens when I try to scan in metroid prime, and my configurations for my controller. I'm using a Mayflash GC controller adapter for PC USB.

You didn't actually set the click to a button.

When setting the L/R button, have the L/R analog already held down, then click to set the button on Dolphin, then push L/R down the rest of the way. That should set it to the actual click

okay, i did that, now it says
L - Axis 5+
R - Axis 4+
L - Analog - Axis 5-+
R - Analog - Axis 4-+

I even tried reversing them, but still, whenever i try to scan, a box comes up around what im trying to scan, but then nothing happens.

If you did it right, it should come up as a button, rather than an axis for the non-analog ones.
