Yeah, unfortunately the file size ballooned pretty fast as I was collecting the textures from the game (in total there were 25,110 textures I extracted). It turns out that every level is split into hundreds (if not thousands) of 512x512 images, so the upscaled versions naturally take up quite a bit of space. I was initially planning on using the Dolphin Texture Tool's PNG optimization to compress the file size down, but after realizing just how long it would take to process all the textures only for a marginal difference in file size I decided to cut my losses and scrapped it.
In regards to using the SkyrimTexV2 model, I took samples of textures from various places in the game and upscaled them using tons of different models. I then compared the results and ended up settling with this model ![]() Edit: I thought about ways to reduce the file size and have decided to make a 'lite' version of the texture pack. I'm going to use the upscaled textures as a base and downscale them to x2 the native texture resolution. Should result in a drastically lowered file size. It'll take a little bit to process all of the textures but I'll update the thread as soon as it's done! 10-26-2022, 04:44 AM
Alright, the Lite version of the texture pack is now complete! The file size has gone from a whopping 51.25GB all the way down to 15.34GB. Still not quite as low as I would've wanted it to be, but I didn't want to have to sacrifice the quality of the textures any further. I would add the link to the main post but I honestly have no clue how to do that
![]() I'm also going to try putting this version through the PNG optimization tool from the Dolphin Texture Tool just to see if the size can be reduced even further. Stay tuned for that! The lite version can be downloaded here: https://1fichier.com/?e16e7s9gv6akt2pgx5gc |
