hi, everyone. before I say anything about my issue i'm going to tell you all a little bit about myself. I have muscular dystrophy and can't move anything except my foot. that's how i'm typing. the only thing I can use is my trackball, i use an on screen keyboard. i'm running a 13" MBP i7 dual-core 8gb of ram, an SSD which has mountain lion running on it. the app i use is called KeyStrokes by Assistiveware. i use other emulators to play other video games on like SNES nintendo ds and nintendo 64. my on screen keyboard works flawlessly with everything else. for whatever reason I can't get dolphin to pick up the on screen keyboard in game. i can get into gcpad and configure the controls, i can press keyboard commands for screenshots and such. but it just refuses to pick up the in game controls. i have the standard controller to slot 1. i've tried three different games. tried other versions of dolphin. no luck =\. i had someone else test a physical keyboard and it does seem to pick up the physical keyboard in game controls. i'm hoping that a dev or someone else can help me get it working. i have a real wii and I was so excited about dolphin because obviously, i can't physically play a real wii. it would make me very happy if I could. if not i guess i'm stuck playing zelda OOT and LTTP only =\. thanks in advanced.

p.s. i know these are "first world problems" lol

I'm going to take a shot in the dark, but you may need to enable Background Input when you configure the controls. If you have another application open, such as your on-screen keyboard, Dolphin might lose focus and therefore not take any input. It's something to try at least.

I know you said you tried other Dolphin revisions, but have you tried the official 3.0 release (not one of the experimental 3.0-XXX builds)?

Btw, it's great that you haven't quit gaming because of your disability Smile Hopefully we can find a solution for you soon.

I have just come across this posting - a little old now - but it may be of interest that I have developed a solution for a person with no finger movement and limited arm movement.
It uses an Android touch screen pad as the input device with the various switches replicated as touch buttons and uses a touch pad area to generate information equivalent to various forms of movement of a Wiimote.
The touch pad communicates with the PC running Dolphin via Bluetooth or Wifi. The Dolphin software has been modified slightly to accept communication from the Android touch pad. Standard Wiimotes can be used as normal.

The Android pad also has the ability to control the PC keyboard and mouse.

Happy to provide more details if you are interested ... best wishes .... gm
