Just getting into trying out dolphin.

My new desktop specs=i5 6600k,evga geforce gtx 960sc,3tb wd green hdd,650 watt corsair tx,corsair c70 case. How would dolphin do on this system?

Pretty much perfectly. Use the latest development release for the latest fixes and features. And if you use Windows 10 you can use the D3D12 backend which takes a lot of work off of the GPU emulation thread, and you can do things like turning SSAA up to silly levels
