First of all: This is in NO-Way a thread to ask to add MotionPlus controls back into Dolphin or to ask if that Android UDP-control version can be compiled again and be added.

I own a MotionPlus and a Wii U and a game called Just Dance 2016... Nice to know you might think, but what has that to do with controllers and a NGC/Wii emulator?

Well... the game has an app to let you make use of an app on your phone to pick up the motions you make, and I was wondering: Would this be an good opportunity to look into emulating MotionPlus again?

I myself am not a developer so I have no clue on where to start with the implementation. I am not even sure this will even work with Dolphin. I just wanted to put it out there.

The app itself is downloadable from the Google Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...5companion

I am fully aware that a Wii U is not a Wii, but the same app also communicates with PS4 and XBone which makes me think that it might be possible to come up with something

This app isn't related to MotionPlus emulation.

Well, here we go...

1) Just Dance games doesn't make any use of the enhanced Motion Plus sensing abilities. In fact, you can use older Wii Remote controllers without Motion Plus hassle free on any game of the franchise released for the Wii/Wii U.
2) Every game can interpret the sensor values whatever way their developers wanted. Just because it works with Just Dance (after all the app was made specifically for it) doesn't mean they will work with other games.
3) Although free, the app is closed source. The only way to see how it works would be by reverse engineering it, and even in that case I'm pretty sure we couldn't include that reverse engineered code in Dolphin without getting in serious legal issues with Ubisoft (not to mention this probably violates GPL as well).
4) A Wii Remote Plus (or a Wii Remote + Motion Plus accessory) provides at least 6 different motion axis, mapping them to a keyboard/mouse would be a nightmare (in fact, that old Motion Plus branch just proved that).

TL;DR forget Motion Plus emulation, at least with current hardware...
Avell A70 MOB: Core i7-11800H, GeForce RTX 3060, 16 GB DDR4-3200, Windows 11 (Insider Preview)
ASRock Z97M OC Formula: Pentium G3258, GeForce GT 440, 16 GB DDR3-1600, Windows 10 (22H2)

1) I did not know that! Since I only own MotionPlus ones nowadays and I never tried it with a normal one.
2) Because the app is made to interface with a game to act as a WiiMote/controller, I hoped it would give us normalized info and thus it could be interpreted that way.
3) In my countries (The Netherlands and South-Africa) you are allowed to reverse engineer things to find out how they work and make your own implementation of it, as long as you make it from scratch.
4) I didn't want to map them to the keyboard and mouse... just use it as an alternative controller and since we got Bluetooth passthrough working I thought it could interface with that and let the game handle the axis assignments.

Again, it is not for myself, I was asking/mentioning it on behalf of all users of the most awesome emulator out there Wink. I also found out it works through WiFi so it is a different thing altogether (I downloaded the app to my phone Wink ) So I am sorry for wasting your time.

You'd first have to emulate a Wiimote and its Bluetooth stuff (low-level things and HID), which is by itself not a very easy task to do…
