I didn't expect anything too good from this Laptop, but I thought it was a fair deal for $200... How much did I overpay?

I don't make much money, so I can't afford a fancy new laptop.

Thanks for the link. I updated the drivers, and Dolphin runs now -- really slowly, with no sound. Oh well, maybe I can emulate older systems, like N64 and GBA?

Guess I'll just save up for an awesome desktop PC to run Dolphin. Most of the things I need a laptop for aren't very demanding anyway.

The biggest problem with your laptop other then the Gpu is the fact your poor little core 2 duo is i bet matched with ddr 2 memory which really henders that chip.(while yes i know its a older chip).. Still isnt as bad paired with ddr 3 memory it should hit at least the same performance as the i3 sandy-bridge. Id return it and get something better.

Would you suggest anything specific, in particular?

I'm such a PC newb, I don't even know where to shop for the best prices...

You can build your own PC pretty easily, and keep it around $400-500
But yeah, sell that laptop to fund a better computer

I know I could get a much better desktop for a few hundred dollars more, but can I really get a better laptop without paying three times as much as I did for this one?

Laptops are always gonna be like twice as expensive as a desktop with much worse performance. The cheapest one you can get is the cheapest one you can find with an i5 4200M.

Depends what you want you could get a ok off the shelf desktop eg something with a I7 and use your keyboard and mouse and just get a decent cheep gpu (if your on a tight budget gtx 750 ti..)
build should run you about 150 for the card and about 400-500 for the desktop..

if your looking at a laptop a min of 1000-1300 (dependiing on deals especally with back to school for UNI.)

For laptop your looking for eather a really fast I5 or a I7 GPU wise gtx 860m would do great.. (laptop version of the gtx 750 but its the second revision so its actually a better card.)

If you have to scrap the DGPU id go intel iris or or intel iris pro.. (both can play Dolphin extreamly well).
