ok, brand new batteries, I know these are good.

every time I go to wiimote settings in dolphin there's 0 wiimotes connected, I tell it to pair up and it installs the device driver all over again, when that's done it says installed successfully and that's it, won't connect in dolphin.

doing this over and over again for over an hour now..... maybe I should just give up

is there a power up order I should stick too? e.g. making sure power is on on the controller before loading dolphin or trying to refresh or reset the connection?

or maybe a build of dolphin well known to be rock solid reliable that maybe I should try? to help eliminate what could be the trouble.
