Joystick messing up!

So I'm on android, playing paper Mario for the gamecube on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with a Bluetooth Xbox controller and at random times one direction of the joystick will just stop working. The only thing that fixes it, is ending emulation and opening it back up again. I'd appreciate any advice or help. Thanks.
