Not again ...
No one say you can't play game in the first place
Intel HD 3000 and 4000 can handle most games at 1x IR or 1.5x IR except demanding games such as Zelda SS , Xenoblade , SMG , The Last Story , Pandora's Tower ...
That's why it suck
I'm not even going to mention if you get yourself a decent graphic card , all games will have huge speed boost and you can play games at 720p , 1080p or higher
And I'm not the only person saying it suck , even i5 3570K users still saying so after they buy a graphic card
Edit :
Quote:How do I make my laptop run 60fps on most games at 720p
Impossibru !
1x or 1.5x IR = 480p
2x IR = 720p
You will be stuck forever with 1x or 1.5x IR on most games . Only "light" games can run full speed at 720p

1.5x is much closer to 720p than 2x. In fact for a 4:3 games they're nearly identical.

1x IR = 480p
1.5x IR = about 720p
2x IR = about halfway between 720p and 1080p
2.5x IR = about 1080p
3x IR = a bit over 1080p
4x IR = way over 1080p

That's just me being picky though.

If you met the requirements it would work. Which specific GMA/IGP did you have?

Thing is - for example cheap 2Gb GT440 i had before i got Quadro 6k. 1920x1440 (i have 4:3 CRT display), 2-2.5x IR, 2-4xAA - full speed in most games. Some run well with 3xIR, some just don't like more than 1x IR and will give you gfx bugs (mostly 2d games), some load video card too much (no, it's not Xenoblade, not even SMG - it's Arc Rise Fantasia). With HD 4000 you simply can't run any game at 1080p, not to mention higher resolutions. You can't even run a game in 1600x resolution with 2xIR and 2xAA

Well you can......you just won't get very good performance.

You upgraded from a bottom of the line $70 consumer graphics card to a $5,000 professional level graphics card that just came out?

i upgraded from a radeon 9700 mobility to a gtx 580m. I don't upgrade often. my next upgrade will be the $1,000 i7 cpu i7-2yyyXM

gtx 580m can easily do 3.5 native which is 1080+ haven't tried higher because my res is 1080

you play games like plants vs zombies instead of gears of war for example. :p [i wish gears was for pc] [treacherous microsoft]

Saying the word "upgrade" . Did you replace radeon 9700 mobility with GTX 580m ? -> Unbelievable
Or Did you mean : " I just bought a new laptop with Nvidia GTX 580M " ?
