Good day everyone.

I've been using Dolphin for just a little more than over 2 years now. I've always had Dolphin running on my laptop and everything worked great. I never ran into issues such as crashes, freezes etc.
In december last year, I built my PC. I choose Windodws 8.1 over Windows 7 at the time being (silly me) as Windows 8.1 would have better support and performance/bootups. Anyway, since I've had Dolphin on my system I've had nothing but trouble. D3D9 runs in ultra slowmotion, and D3D11 works normal. I have a lot -really A LOT- of random crashes. I figured it was the Xaudio2 backend causing problems, so I switched it back to Dsound. I still experience random crashes and I cannot seem to find out why. I'm using the LLE Recompiler, LLE on thread and DSound. What are known issues that can cause Dolphin to crash randomly? What is the most stable version at this moment? I'm using Dolphin 3.5 now...

Any help would be appreciated! If needed, I could also post pics of my Dolphin settings

I need you to answer these questions.

Which game(s) are you trying to run?

What are your system specs?

Update to something newer than 3.5 please. You can get the latest stable and latest dev releases on our website - https://dolphin-emu.org/download/

Intel Core i5 4670k @ 3.40Ghz, GTX 770, 8GB DDR3 @ 1600Mhz.

I've ran into freezing/crashing issues mostly on Wii games. Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Mario Kart Wii and SSBB are a few examples. When using Dsound and playing GC games, the sound (background music) just cuts out. Would it be an issue with my DirectX? Should I just use OpenGL?

Seriously just update to the latest dev build like Major told you. Use hle instead with the latest and disable lle on thread if you want to use lle since you experience crashes.

Yeah, that's where another problem is. I gave Dolphin 4.0.2 a go. It crashed on startup, and told me that my GPU is old and inferior. Dolphin 3.0.X seems to work the best for me.

Your computer is more than good enough for the latest versions of Dolphin. Try installing the latest drivers and using the newest version of Dolphin. You won't regret it.

I'd happily like to believe that! I'll check my Nvidia drivers within a few seconds. I'm still wondering why Dolphin crashes so much on Windows 8.1, though...

It shouldn´t be crashing, unless you have all the Windows updates installed.
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

"Unless you have all the Windows Updates installed." WHAT. Um, how do you mean this?

Typo. *It shouldn´t be crashing unless you DON´T have all the Windows updates installed.*
