So I'm new to this and was trying to setup multiplayer controllers. I was able to use 1 controller in PC mode and it was picked up by my computer as an input device (/dev/input/js0). In Dolphin, however, it sometimes would be there and sometimes wouldn't (probably separate issue). I was able to use the controller and play games with it. When I attempted to add a second controller, it would just control that same input (/dev/input/js0). It would not create a second input device, ie (/dev/input/js1).
I couldn't figure out why it only saw 1 device when 2 were plugged in. So I tried a 3rd controller to the same effect. All 3 controllers controlled the same 1 input js0.
I saw a lot of people talking about not using the PC version and instead switching to "Official GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U". I attempted to follow the directions on https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?t...in_Dolphin but I didn't get anywhere. I found the /etc/udev/rules.d/51-gcadapter.rules file and it was already populated with
#GameCube Controller Adapter
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", ATTRS{idVendor}=="057e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0337", TAG+="uaccess"
#Mayflash DolphinBar
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", ATTRS{idVendor}=="057e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0306", TAG+="uaccess"
so I added SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", ATTRS{idVendor}=="057e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0337", MODE="0666"
at the end and reloaded the udev rules in the console command line.
Nothing work after that. I couldn't get Dolphin to even recognize one controller.
After messing with different configurations for a while of replacing the SUBSYSTEM text with the new one I started to get a dialogue box stating the following when I attempted to open Input Settings where I orginally found my gamepad under joystick:
Current configuration for the input method:
* Active configuration: missing (normally missing)
* Normal automatic choice: ibus (normally ibus or fcitx or uim)
* Override rule: zh_CN,fcitx:zh_TW,fcitx:zh_HK,fcitx:zh_SG,fcitx:ja_JP,fcitx:ko_KR,fcitx:vi_VN,fcitx
* Current override choice: (en_US)
* Current automatic choice: ibus
* Number of valid choices: 2 (normally 1)
The override rule is defined in /etc/default/im-config.
The configuration set by im-config is activated by re-starting X.
Explicit selection is not required to enable the automatic configuration if the active one is default/auto/cjkv/missing.
Available input methods: ibus xim
Unless you really need them all, please make sure to install only one input method tool.
Clicked OK and got the following pop up
Do you explicitly select the user configuration?
* Select NO, if you do not wish to update it. (recommended)
* Select YES, if you wish to update it.
Yes took me to a selection screen stating Select user configuration. The user configuration supersedes the system one.
- use cjkv mode set by /etc/default/im-config
- activate IM with @-mark for most locales
- use auto mode only under CJKV
- remove IM user configuration /home/chazzerb/.xinputrc
- activate Intelligent Input Bus (IBus) @
- do not set any IM from im-config
- activate the bare XIM with the X Keyboard Extension
I don't know what any of that is or means, but selecting NO brings me to this pop up:
Keeping the user configuration /home/chazzerb/.xinputrc as missing.
Automatic configuration selects: ibus
Intelligent Input Bus (IBus)
* Required for all: ibus
* Language specific input conversion support:
* Japanese: ibus-mozc (best) or ibus-anthy or ibus-skk
* Korean: ibus-hangul
* Simplified Chinese: ibus-pinyin or ibus-sunpinyin or ibus-googlepinyin
* Traditional Chinese: ibus-chewing
* Thai: ibus-table-thai
* Vietnamese: ibus-unikey or ibus-table-viqr
* X Keyboard emulation: ibus-xkbc
* Generic keyboard translation table: ibus-m17n or ibus-table* packages
* Application platform support:
* GNOME/GTK+: ibus-gtk and ibus-gtk3 (both)
* KDE/Qt: ibus-qt4
* Clutter: ibus-clutter
* EMACS: ibus-el
If a daemon program for the previous configuration is re-started by the X session manager, you may need to kill it manually with kill(1).
See im-config(8) and /usr/share/doc/im-config/README.Debian.gz for more.
With an OK button, which just closes it and nothing happens.
I am very lost and I can't find any guides walking a NOOB like me through this. Like I stated earlier I can get 1 controller to work in the PC mode, but I can't get it to work with multiple controllers working independently from each other. Then I had no luck at all trying to follow the Official GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U mode.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
