Issues opening Dolphin through steam

I use Steam as my main launcher for pretty much everything game related, and for some reason Dolphin has some issues when it's opened through Steam.

The two issues are:

1. Controller not being detected. I am using a PowerA 360 controller. I tried disabling desktop controller config, but it doesn't help. Controller support through steam works with some other emulators such as Higan though.
2. When dolphin is closed, Steam is unable to launch any other games, and requires a manual restart.
   

Everything works fine when launched from the .exe or start menu.

I know it's a small issue, but if anyone has encountered it and has a solution it would still be much appreciated.

We don't officially support booting from steam. If you were to figure out what Dolphin was doing that made steam unhappy, then we could look into it. With no leads, it's a lot of work to try to find out if the problem is on our end or something weird about what Steam wants.
