Question
Whenever I try and boot an ISO (as of now I've only ripped Brawl...haven't bothered with other games yet), nothing happens.

I'm currently using Dolphin r3404 (64-bit, running Vista 64)...basic computer specs are as follows:

ATI Radeon HD 4850 1024MB
6GB RAM
Intel i7 CPU / 2.67 GHz

Not really sure what all I need to include in this description to really get any help, but basically I downloaded the latest (not SVN) Dolphin revision and set everything up as seen in the following thread:

http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/thread-26.html

But when I browse for the ISO I created, I can get it to show up in the list of games, but when I double-click, or press "Play," absolutely nothing happens.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated!

Make a folder and put the game in it and then direct it to that folder.

Yeah, I can get that far, like the game shows up in the list and everything. It doesn't show the banner for the game but it recognizes it as "Super Smash Bros. Brawl". It seems like it should work, but when I try to run the game it just doesn't do anything. Do I need to have a controller plug-in installed to play games?

The banners for Wii games do not show up until you save.

About your problem, make sure you have all DirectX updates and double-check all of your settings.

Edit: Forgot to ask if your game is PAL or NTSC? (Look at the flag on the right of the game)

I'm pretty sure I have 10.1...not sure if that's the latest as of now. But yeah I've got the PAL version of the game. Thanks for the input; I'll try to find some updates.

just because you have 10.1, it doesn't mean that it's updated. All dx builds from ms are updated separately.

So wait, does Dolphin honestly only work with DirectX 9? If that's the case, will I need to downgrade or anything, and if so, how would I go about doing that?

Sorry for all of the noob questions, but I appreciate all of the help.

You can have the runtimes for DX9 and DX10 (and DX11 for that matter) all installed on your computer at the same time. Dolphin uses some stuff from DX9 but it isn't programmed to take advantage of DX10 (as of yet anyways). Don't mistake DirectX just for a graphics API (Direct3D), it includes other stuff like DirectSound etc. But don't ask WHY or WHAT Dolphin actually uses from DX9 because I haven't the slightest clue.

So, in the end, you can download the runtime installer and install it without having to "downgrade" or anything.
Another thing, I noticed on this thread http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/thread-26.html that the NTSC version asks you to insert the disc. That might be the problem. Sad ... But I'm not sure. I haven't tried Brawl yet, although I could rip it and see.
