Hi, as the title says, I am wondering if my two year old laptop is worth using with dolphin. Specs are:
Intel i7 2630QM-2.00ghz
AMD 6770m 1GB VRAM
8GB DDR3
Intel i7 2630QM-2.00ghz
AMD 6770m 1GB VRAM
8GB DDR3
Is this laptop any good? Or should I just grab a new Desktop

Impossible. If not, VERY unusual. To run games in Dolphin properly with no slowdowns you need a more powerful Haswell (i7) processor (like, say, 3.40, 4.8...). You will even have some problems with average-weight games.
Can you post here the desktop caracteristics? Maybe they´re better than the laptop... 09-08-2013, 09:39 AM

The i7 2630QM can turbo boost to 2.8 GHz on two cores, which is enough for a lot of "average" games in Dolphin. Additionally, Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge CPUs still manage to pull their own weight in Dolphin, although Haswell is preferred if someone is buying a new system. @die9991 - What games do you plan to play in Dolphin? The requirements vary depending on which game you're trying to run. |
